Harriet June Moyer passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026 at the age of 90, with her three children by her side. Harriet's love of place ran so deep it defined her. She loved the rivers and hills of central and western Pennsylvania with an intensity that shaped nearly every choice she made — she lived her entire life in Fox Township and never once considered being anywhere else. City police were called to investigate a report of a vehicle striking a Pedestrian on Depot Street. After investigation, police determined that 36-year-old Sara Frantz of Lusby, Maryland, exited an alley onto Depot Street and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The Pedestrian was treated at the scene by St. Marys Ambulance Service personnel and transported to Penn Highlands Elk for Treatment. After investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, a garage fire on Front Street in Ridgway on Monday, July 6th, was ruled accidental in nature. Total damages estimated at $70,000. No injuries were reported.
Emporium State Police have filed possession charges against a known 47 year old man from Williamsport. The charges stem from a traffic stop in Shippen township, where police discovered a controlled substance during investigation.

The library received a significant amount of water damage due to the flooding. At one point water was coming through the outside doors and down the stairs. There was water above the staff’s ankles as they were trying to elevate items to protect them from damage. The library will be closed Tuesday, July 7th as we contact our insurance and find a professional cleaning company. The children’s room and lower level will remain closed indefinitely. All the carpets and baseboards need replaced. I.
