Lydia Cathryn Payne Martin celebrates her birthday tomorrow. The Bluefield resident was born on October 30, 1919.

The IDA has secured $545,000 in grant funding from three sources to help move the project forward. Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), through the Industrial Revitalization Fund (IRF), provided $245,000,  The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission granted $250,000 to the project, and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership designated $50,000 for asbestos and lead abatement. #WOAY

Associate professor of biology and environmental science Dr. Yi Charlie Chen received the major award from the West Virginia IDEA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence.   His research will combine natural compounds, nanotechnology, and AI-designed peptides to develop more targeted ways to deliver potential cancer treatments.   #MercerCounty #WOAY
