Fifth grade science seems to come to life in Christina Carrier’s class at Roseboro Elementary — with student-built terrariums demonstrating the energy cycle in real time.

The stage was set at Roseboro’s Cork & Brew on Oct. 7, as community leaders, business owners and school representatives mingled at the Roseboro business, waiting their turn to be interviewed by the Leopard Leader Junior Reporters’ Club.

The Roseboro Board of Commissioners voted last week to close the streets downtown Oct. 31 for the 3rd Annual Spooktacular hosted by Buffy Bradshear and Rosie’s Pizza, as well as to require four off-duty sheriff’s deputies to be hired to patrol the area during the event.

Roseboro had a full house and a full agenda Tuesday as the town’s board voted unanimously to accept a $4.2 million funding award for upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant and set minimum offers for the old fire station property. At the end of the meeting, the board went into closed session for just over 20 minutes, with no action taken.

Downtown Roseboro will be the hub of Halloween spirit Saturday, Oct. 31 during the 3rd Annual Spooktacular sponsored by Rosie’s Pizza with costume contests, bat wing and brain eating contests, live music, games, and lots and lots of candy.
