A 57-acre brush fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in Perris amid dangerous heat, prompting evacuations in some areas.

Evacuation orders and warnings were issued for a brush fire that grew to a few dozen acres Tuesday in Riverside County as Southern California remained in the grip of extreme heat. The Wood Fire was burning in light grass and medium brush with a fast rate of spread in the Perris area. The fire was near Rider Street and Dreamglo Lane. It was estimated at about 30 acres.
