Starting mid-July, the rehabilitation project on one of Skagway’s main streets will shift to night work. A noise permit was approved to allow work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through September. Over 7,000 cruise ship passengers landed in Skagway on July 4th to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday. The tiny town greeted the large crowd with a big party. Events included a slow bike race, a railroad spike driving contest and a wacky parade. KHNS’ Melinda Munson has the details.
